Pinterest Love.

Ohh Pinterest, I heart you.  So much awesomeness, so little time.

Just some things I've come across lately..

Newspaper nails made with VODKA?!?
If you know me at all in real life, you probably know my love for painting my nails.  But throw a little alcohol into the equation and now you've got yourself a party!

So.freaking.SMART!

 Hilarious.
Prettyyyyy.
I love how simple, yet effective the buttons are.

How awesome is THIS?!
Who knew that an ant's abdomen could even DO that.

Please tell me I'm not the only one alone here...

Thanks, Walt.

And now for some food porn...

Peacock Feather Headband

Clearly I have an obsession with all things peacock.

Example #1: my birthday shoes.

Example #2: this headband.

Stupid easy, but I get stopped and asked about it *every time* I wear it out.

Want a tutorial??

What you'll need:
  • 1 wire headband
  • felt (color of your choosing)
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun

I got a set of 3 headbands at the dollar store (score!)...they were wrapped in beads, but that was super easy to take off and now I have extra beads (double score)!

I cut a pointed oval shape out of my black felt, which will be the feather base.  It's approximately half the size of the headband itself...

Now you're going to start cutting feathers...they can be as small or as large as you want, but mine are about 2-3 inches long.

The feathers are the same shape as the base you just made, but to make them feather-like, we're going to cut slits down each side...

Now start gluing to your base!

Once you're done, glue the base to the headband and it will look something like this...

LOVE!

Earring Extravaganza

Is it just me or does anyone else out there always make a B-line for the clearance section of the store when shopping?

I came across these thumbtacks at Borders a while back for like 3 bucks and immediately saw their potential...
I removed the tack-part of the thumbtack with some pliers...

Grabbed a few earring backs and hot-glued them onto the rest of the thumbtack...

Done and done!

Super cute, cheap, and easy...and I have like, 8 more pairs to make.  Who wants some earrings? ;)

Coffee Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Cookies

You know what makes me happy?

Cookies.  Even the bad ones are somehow still good.

But these ones make me extra happy.

The only thing I changed from the recipe was double the amount of cinnamon it called for.

Dessert for breakfast?  YES PLEASE!

Coffee Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:
1 cup flour
  1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  1/8 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1.5 tablespoons instant coffee powder, dissolved in a dash of boiling water
  1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  2/3 cups chocolate chips

In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. In another bowl, place the butter and sugar and beat until well combined. Add the coffee mixture and beat until combined. Stir in the flour in batches, mixing well after each addition, then add the chocolate chips. In a shallow bowl, place about ¼ cup of sugar. Scoop out tablespoons of dough and flatten it slightly into a disk. Dip one side into the sugar then place sugar side up on a baking tray. Repeat with the remaining dough, placing the disks about 4cm apart. Place the tray in the fridge until the dough has cooled and is firm to avoid spreading in the oven.
To cook, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Bake the cookies for approximately 12-14 minutes, until the edges start to darken.  Allow to cool on the baking tray for a couple of minutes until firm, then transfer to wire rack.

Goodwill, you've done it for me again...

What's that?  You need a close-up?

Showed it to a friend of mine who works at Coach and she said it's 100% legit.  All for $2.99.  And it's brand-freakin' new!

Happy Friday to ME! :)

Trash to Treasure - Watering Can Planter

I love free stuff.

Like, LOVE free stuff.

So when I found this by the dumpster of our apartment, I *might* have ran outside in my PJs to scoop it up...

Rusty?  Yep.  Warped?  Uh huh.  Potential?  Yes yes yes!

I grabbed a can of this stuff from Lowe's...

...and went to town.

2-3 coats and a begonia plant later, I got this beauty!

I placed her on the back patio...perfect!

Have you transformed anything lately?
